VonHaus 2 in 1 Cordless Vacuum Review: Lightweight Option

In my previous VonHaus 2-in-1 review, I talked about a corded vacuum that looked like a cordless.

This time it’s for real, VonHaus has finally developed something without a cord.

VonHaus 2 in 1 Cordless VacuumReview

At first glance you’d think it’s an Electrolux Ergorapido. That’s because both have the same design. Stick a handheld vacuum into a stick vacuum housing and call it a 2-in-1.

While this scores points for versatility, suction power suffers.

When you compare it to the class leading Dyson, suction is still lacking as evidenced by the 20 air watt power output.

Compare that to a Dyson V6 that produces 28 air watts (100 on max), suction is a bit lacking. So this vacuum is best utilized for quick clean ups yes even on floors.

Let’s see what this vacuum has to offer and what the consumers think about it.

A quick look at the features

  • Powered by a 19.2 volt lithium ion battery that VonHaus says provides fade free power
  • It will take 3 hours to fully charge and will give you 15 minutes of cord free cleaning
  • Not so big 0.5 liter dust tank
  • Comes with a crevice tool and a small brush head to give you versatility of cleaning not only floors but also upholstery

Pros

  • Lightweight and has swivel steering for easier maneuverability on floors
  • Decent 15 minute run time
  • Great for cleaning small homes or cars
  • Lithium ion battery gives you fade free power (according to the manufacturer)

Cons

  • Not so great on carpet – lacks power
  • Warranty is not specified
  • Lacks tools like a brush tool or pet hair attachment tool

What to expect from the VonHaus 2-in-1 cordless?

Much like the Electrolux Ergorapido, this vacuum is basically a handheld vacuum that’s attached to a stick casing.

This makes this product versatile but at the expense of power. And since you’re only using a handheld, expect handheld-type capacity in terms of how much dirt it can hold.

Features

In this case, expect only a 0.5 liter dirt capacity which isn’t a whole lot. This means that this machine isn’t designed to clean large areas but only small areas as a spot cleaner, even on floors.

In terms of suction power, it is decent but not powerful. VonHaus says it has around 20 air watts of suction power. This is around 8 less than the Dyson V6 and 20 less than the new Black + Decker BDH3600 series.

So VonHaus has a lot of catching up to do if they want to compete with the big boys.

But remember the above products cost 3 to 4 times more so this product gives consumers a budget alternative.

Bare Floor Performance

Based on the reviews I’ve read, this product will work best on smooth surfaces like linoleum and hardwood but only small messes.

It will struggle to pick up large messes because it simply lacks the suction power to do so.

If you have some pets, this can work well cleaning cat litter and maybe some pet hair. But if you have lots of pets, you better invest in something more powerful

Carpet Performance

Despite some positive reviews about this vacuum working well on carpet, don’t set your expectations too high as this vacuum cannot deep clean carpet.

Let me repeat that, this vacuum cannot deep clean carpet.

With only 20 air watts on tap and a weak brush roll, this will only work best as a surface cleaner on low pile carpet.

If you have a home with a lot of carpet inside, this isn’t the best option. You’d be better off with something stronger like the Hoover Linx Stick or the DC59 Motorhead.

Upholstery Performance

For picking up surface dirt on upholstery this machine has the capability of doing so.

The crevice tool though lacks the length to reach deep in crevices. And it has a mini motorized tool that you need to clean up embedded dirt and hair on fabric upholstery.

So there is some limitation.

Pet Hair

This machine is not suited for heavy pet hair cleaning because it lacks the power and tools to do so.

Attachments and Accessories

For the handheld vacuum it only comes with a crevice tool.

Charging Time

It will take around 3 hours to fully charge this.

Filter Clean up

Emptying and cleaning this is easy. All you need to do is remove the handheld from the casing. Next step would be pushing a release lever on top to unlock the bin.

The filter is washable but make sure that it fully dries before putting it back on the vacuum.

Battery Life

A full charge will give you 15 minutes of run time.

Warranty

VonHaus does not specify how long the warranty is for this product.

See it in Action

Here’s a recording of a video review in Amazon. I wanted to share this to give you a heads up on how loud this is and how it looks like in action.

Customer Reviews

The consumers who liked this product, say that this product is excellent for quick clean ups on carpet, bare floor and upholstery inside a small home (more so in a mobile home) as well as cars. If you don’t have time to bring out a full sized upright this is a great cheap alternative that will clean surface dirt pretty well.

On carpet this machine will work best on the dense short pile variety but anything thicker than that it will struggle.

The swivel steering is a nice feature but without the charging stand, this will not stand on its own. You are warned.

A lot of the people who gave 4 or 5 star reviews say that this is good value for money if you know what to expect.

Consumers who gave bad reviews, say they were misled as they expected this to be able to clean carpet but it did not perform as they expected to.

Overall based on the reviews this product will work best as a spot cleaner but do not expect it to clean anything more than low pile carpet. The plastic used was not high quality but you cannot expect that in a vacuum at this price range. If you have the right expectations of this product you will not be disappointed.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this 2-in-1 cordless from Amazon for less than $90. And it comes with the free 2-day shipping if you enroll in Prime. There’s also an optional extended warranty if you want that extra peace of mind.

To wrap up

This product is great for cleaning small messes thanks to its configuration that basically uses a stick vacuum housing to carry the handheld unit. It allows you to use it on floors but despite the presence of a brush roll, it lacks power to do anything more than surface clean on carpet.

Don’t expect too much from this as it will not work well on carpet despite what some consumers say. Expect this to work its best on cleaning small messes anywhere inside the house. If you don’t want to use a broom and dustpan this is a good alternative.

Basically this is a handheld vacuum attached on a stick body so expect handheld performance and cleaning capacity which is not a lot.

It is also one of the more affordable products out there and if you cannot afford a brand like a Dyson, this is a good alternative but you have to know the limitations so you won’t be disappointed.
