Bissell CleanView OnePass 9595 Review: A Budget Pet Hair Cleaner

Finding a quality vacuum cleaner under $100 is tough. Most of them will suffer from weak suction and won’t clean thoroughly.

The CleanView OnePass is an exception.

This is an excellent performer on carpet based on reviews and offers decent performance without breaking the bank.

A Budget Upright Vacuum That Works Great for Pet Hair Cleaner

 Bissell 9595A CleanView

With the Bissell CleanView OnePass 9595, you don’t need to spend a fortune for an upright that can clean pet hair. As its name implies, it can clean pet hair on carpets in fewer passes thanks to the new brush roll design. It’s one of the least expensive upright vacuums, and yet it still has a 2-year warranty.

You can also use this on stairs and upholstery because it comes with a hose plus a few attachments that includes a brush, crevice, and the so-called Turbo Brush tool. So this machine has some versatility in it.

Bissell claims that the innovative brush design will pick up more dirt on the initial pass, and consumers have verified this to be very accurate, particularly on the carpet, which is a big reason why this is a best seller in Amazon.

This cleaning efficiency will help you save time because you’ll need fewer passes to clean a room.

A quick look at the features

  • Comes with a new brush roll that Bissel claims to clean more on the initial pass
  • Has three tools – brush, crevice and the TurboBrush tool that allows you to clean stairs and most upholstery
  • Has a flexible hose where you can attach the three devices I mentioned above
  • Uses a bagless system with cyclonic action – this maintains suction power even as the dirt bin fills up
  • Large and easy to empty dirt bin (2.2 liters)
  • 25-foot power cord
  • Filter is washable

Pros

  • It is considered a lightweight (only 15 pounds) among upright vacuums
  • Long 25-foot cord
  • Great to use for carpet
  • Comes with a hose and a few attachments that will clean stairs and upholstery
  • Easy to assemble
  • Easy to empty
  • Comes with a washable filter which lowers operational cost
  • Affordable
  • Reasonably quiet

Cons

  • It doesn’t have the option to turn off the brush roll, so it’s not usable on hard floors.
  • Only works on low pile carpet
  • Does not swivel
  • Some concerns about build quality
  • Tends to push larger bits of dirt around because it has a low clearance. One workaround is using the high pile setting, which raises the clearance.

What to expect from the Bissell CleanView OnePass?

The main feature of the CleanView is the redesigned brush roll that, according to Bissell, will pick up more in the initial pass.

It doesn’t mean that you’ll only need one pass to clean an area, but you’ll need fewer passes, which will save you time cleaning.

One downer, though, is this does not have any swivel action, which will affect maneuverability somewhat. Still, consumers say this was relatively easy to push, plus it weighs a manageable 15 pounds, so it won’t be an issue unless you have back problems.

Bissell CleanView 9595 Features

It has a 25-foot cord so you’ll be able to clean more space without looking for an outlet.

Attachments and accessories

It comes with these attachments.

Cord length

It has a 25-foot cord, but it isn’t retractable, so you’ll have to wrap the wire around the hooks manually.

Filter clean up

There are two filters in this vacuum, a post-motor filter, and a pre-motor filter.

The post-motor filter prevents dirt air from coming back out.

This filter is not washable and needs to be replaced every 3 to 6 months.

On top of the container is the washable pre-motor filter.

Pre and Post Filter

Emptying the dirt tank is easy. Just press the lever on top of the dirt cup’s handle and then removing it. There is another button for the lid to empty the dirt bin.

Please refer to the photos below to see the location of the buttons.

See it in action

Comparing this with the Shark Lift-Away Pro.

Bare floor performance

It won’t be as effective on this surface as it would on carpets because you cannot turn off the motorized brush.

The brush can pick up small bits of dirt like dust, but it won’t be as efficient as a soft roller brush, but it has its limitations.

Forget using it on large debris like Fruit loops or Cheerios as it doesn’t have any clearance.

If you’re looking for a vacuum that can clean hard floors, opt for a Shark with a Duo Clean head.

I would not recommend this on hard floors.

Carpet performance

This vacuum will shine on a low pile carpet because of the new brush design.

Bissell says that it will pick up more on the initial pass, which means you’ll need fewer passes.

It will save you tons of time when you all them all up.

This review from VacBin shows you how effective it is on a low pile carpet.

It won’t pick everything up at once, but with a few more passes, it’ll eventually will.

One more thing to note is that this has a “plowing” effect on larger bits of dirt like toasted oats, so you may need to use a handheld vacuum for bits and pieces that remain.

Pet hair removal

Consumers loved how this upright helped them deal with pet hair.

It has a pet attachment that can pick up pet hair on stars, fabric upholstery, and carpet stairs.

Take note that you’ll need to clean this tool regularly as hair and dust bunnies will tangle on the brush.

What consumers say

This model is an Amazon bestseller for upright vacuums, so it’s not surprising that it got over a thousand reviews in there alone.

A lot of the consumers were quite pleased that it was able to clean up a ton of pet hair and dust on their floors, both carpet, and non-carpet.

The price was another huge positive as some consumers mentioned that they couldn’t afford to buy more expensive uprights like the Dyson or Hoover, which cost way over $100.

This being under $100 is a great budget option without compromising on cleaning performance.

Despite not having any swivel feature, consumers say that this CleanView was easy to move around, even on carpet, just don’t expect it to turn on the dime.

The hose though is rather short. Using it to clean a tall flight of stairs will be asking too much. You’ll be able to clean upholstery without any problems.

It has a 25-foot power cord, but it isn’t retractable – this can be subjective as some consumers complained about not having this while others didn’t mind.

Another complaint I see from some consumers is the belt (that spins the motorized brush) that slips off after using this a few months.

Only a few people though mentioned this, so I don’t think this is something to be overly concerned about because a majority of consumers didn’t complain about this.

Plus it has a two-year warranty, so this should be covered.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this budget upright from Amazon. It’s one of the best value for money option uprights on carpets. For the entry-level cost, it comes with a free replacement filter from Fabreze and eligible for their free 2-day shipping care of Prime.

Amazon also sells extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.

Please note that if you buy through the link above, I’ll earn a commission, but at no extra cost to you, so it’s a win-win for both of us.

To wrap up

This vacuum is excellent for medium to larger homes with low to medium pile carpet.

The motorized brush and strong suction work well together in picking up fine to large-sized dirt, including pet hair! It does have a plowing effect on larger debris because the base has a rather low clearance, so you’ll have to tilt it a little bit to pick up more significant bits.

Build quality isn’t up to part with the Dyson or a Miele upright, but remember this vacuum costs less than $95, so you’ll have to temper your expectations.

The most important thing is the cleaning performance, and this vacuum does not disappoint. Just look at the overwhelmingly positive reviews.

It does have its limitations like the short flexible hose that won’t be able to clean stairs thoroughly, but at this price point, this is one of the best options available, plus it has a two-year warranty!
