Dogs are adorable and loving creatures but they leave a trail of hair and dander all around your home.
The toughest ones to remove are pet hair on upholstery because each type of sofa or chair has a different contour.

To effectively clean pet hair, you’ll need a tool that automatically adjusts to every curve -the Bissell Corded Pet Hair Eraser is one such tool that can do this job effectively.

What to expect from the Bissell Corded Pet Hair Eraser 33A1?
Bissell created this handheld vacuum with the pet owner in mind.
The first thing you’ll notice is the red ribbed nozzle that is designed to be flexible which adapts to the contours of any upholstery.
It also can clean debris from hard surfaces like tile or hard wood with the hard nozzle attachment. But this will be most effective on upholstery and carpeted stairs.

Attachments and accessories
The default attachment of the 33A1 pet hair eraser is the rubber nozzle (that’s the red nozzle).
It comes with an extra nozzle to tackle debris on hard surfaces. It looks like this…

Cord length
Power cord is about 16 feet long which for a vacuum this size is generous but if you have a tall flight of stairs to clean, you may un-plug it a few times to clean the whole thing.
For cleaning upholstery though which is the primary purpose of this, the cord length is more than enough.
It comes with a Velcro strap so you can store the power cord neatly after using it. Nice touch Bissell.
Filter clean up
This is equipped with a HEPA filter so the filter itself cannot be washed under running water, you can only wash the screen and dirt container using cold water. Bissell recommends tapping the HEPA filter periodically to rid it of accumulated dirt and dust.
Emptying this isn’t hard – all you need to do is press the release lever on top of the vacuum to separate the dirt container and motor.
Remove the filter by grasping both sides and empty the dirt contain on a trash bin.
You’ll notice that the filter assembly has two parts – the HEPA filter and a screen. These two can be separated.

Note: All ways unplug the vacuum before emptying the filter.
Warranty
This handheld only comes with a 1 year warranty. But extended warranties are available in Amazon (up to 3 years) if you want that extra peace of mind.
Bare floor performance
Even though this has a hard nozzle to clean hard surfaces, it will struggle somewhat because of air vent placement.
It has air vents on both sides that tend to blow stuff – that includes dust bunnies and pet liter.
This is a design flaw according to some consumers because it blew stuff away but some consumers were okay with it because it was so effective removing pet hair in upholstery.
Carpet performance
The rubber nozzle will work wonders picking up pet hair on carpeted stairs. It may not be as efficient as a beater bar but it still does the job.
Cleaning upholstery is where the pet hair eraser shines. Countless consumers were happy about its ability to “erase” even the toughest pet hair on various types of sofas from fabric to suede.
Though there were some complaints that it had difficulty picking up pet hair on suede.
Pet hair removal
This machine is built with one thing in mind – cleaning pet hair. It does this using the soft rubber nozzle the follows the contours of upholstery.
Based on reviews, it did really well particularly in fabric type sofas or chairs.
On suede, the results weren’t unanimous. Some say it was effective while others say otherwise.
It’s even capable of cleaning pet hair off toys and pillows according one lady who has 7 cats in her home. The rubber nozzle design is that effective.

What consumers say?
In Amazon alone more than a thousand people left a review. Pet owners were the happiest because of the soft rubber nozzle that adapts to the contours of the upholstery.
This nozzle enables it to pick up stubborn pet hair on fabric upholstery. If you have pets, this is one area of concern because pets love to sleep here.
Also effective on stairs
Not only is it effective on tackling pet hair on upholstery. But also on stairs particularly where the steps and risers meet.
It also is effective in removing pet hair from carpeted baseboards – another area where most pet hair accumulate in. Not everybody is a fan of the ribbed nozzle.
In fact some would prefer a motorized brush. I won’t argue with them because everybody has a preference, and motorized brushes are also effective.
Some issues with the rubber nozzle
The downside to the ribbed nozzle is the small holes that it has which can be an issue when cleaning thick carpet as one consumer noted.
Also some people have complained that this creates clumps of hair but this only happens when you try to clean pet hair off hard surfaces using the rubber nozzle.
It is designed specifically for upholstery and carpet.
Exhaust vents can be an issue
This is the biggest issue by far – the exhaust that comes out from both sides of the vacuum that tends to blow dust and dirt everywhere according to a number of people who’ve used it.
This can be tricky to use on dusty areas if you have asthma or allergic to dust. But take note that this only happens if you use this on hard surfaces, for cleaning pet hair on upholstery this isn’t much of an issue.
To counteract this issue some have bought this hose adapter and flex hose to keep the blowing exhaust as far away from the area they’re cleaning and avoid the problem. Both of these will add just $11-12 to the expense so it isn’t much.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this pet hair cleaning handheld in Amazon for less than $30. And it’ll be eligible to their free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.
They also sell extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
To wrap up
This product would be great for pet owners who have trouble keeping up with the amount of hair shed by their pets particularly on upholstery and stairs.
These two areas are the toughest to clean – any pet owner will tell you that.
Having a tool like this that won’t cost an arm or a leg (this costs less than $30!) is a godsend for people who have 2 or more pets at home – even more so on shedding season!
Exhaust vents on both sides may blow debris which can be a hassle especially if you’re cleaning dust. But this vacuum isn’t meant for cleaning dust but pet hair so set expectations accordingly.
Overall this product does its job very well, erasing pet hair off upholstery (yes even inside cars) and stairs, other than that, it will struggle a little bit because of the two exhaust vents that blows away dirt on both sides.
