I’m always in a look out for a good deal and the Dirt Devil Gator BD1075 is a GREAT buy, just check out these features.

It comes with a brush roll attachment and a pull out crevice tool designed for spot clean ups on upholstery, carpet and hard floors.
Though the crevice tool is on the short side so it won’t reach deep into crevices.
Having a brush roll means you can use this to clean pet hair from stairs and upholstery.
One bonus you’ll get from this product is the long 3-year warranty, for a product under $50 this is a very good deal.
Other products at a similar price range may only give you a 1-year warranty.
Pros
- Motorized brush makes allows this to remove pet hair on carpeted stairs as well as upholstery
- Energy star rated battery means more power savings
- Easy to empty
- Long 3-year warranty
- Cheap at just under $50
Cons
- Takes too long to charge
- Crevice tool has a very small opening
- A little bit heavy
- Opening is a bit narrow
- Small dirt capacity – fills up pretty quick
What to expect from the Dirt Devil BD10175 18-Volt Cordless Handheld?
This handheld is powered by an 18-volt nickel cadmium battery that needs to be charged 24 hours, so basically, you need to leave this plugged in the charger if it is used every day.
The charger isn’t wall mountable which was a disappointment for some consumers but really not a big deal for a small appliance like this but it is subjective.
- 18-volt nickel cadmium battery
- 2-1/4” wide Motorized brush roll attachment
- Pull out crevice tool
- Charger included but not wall mountable
- Energy star rated
- 3 year warranty
Attachments and accessories
It has two attachments – a pull out crevice tool plus a motorized brush.

Charging time
According to the Dirt Devil website, it takes around 24 hours to full charge so like what I’ve said earlier leave this plugged in if you use it at least once a day.
Take note that the battery isn’t removable so if it fails before the warranty expires, contact Dirt Devil and ask for a replacement.
Filter clean up
To remove the filter, you’ll need to lift up the main nozzle to gain access to the filter.
There are two filters – a mesh and cloth filter. Both of these are washable.
Here’s a photo of the mesh filter behind the cloth filter for your reference.

Run time
There isn’t much feedback on this. One said that it ran as long as 20 minutes before losing power. Others said it only ran for 5 minutes.
Dirt Devil doesn’t have any official run times listed in their site.
Warranty
It comes with a 3-year limited warranty on the whole unit.
Bare floor performance
This will be great for small debris like pet litter, dust and pet hair on this surface but since the opening is on the smallish side it can’t take in larger bits.
Carpet performance
The presence of the brushroll makes this useful on carpet but only on low pile carpet, it does not have enough power to tackle medium to thick ones.
This can be useful on carpeted stairs where a stick or an upright can be tricky to use.
Upholstery and pet hair
Again, the presence of the brushroll makes this usable on upholstery, particularly pet hair.

Customer Reviews
A little over a hundred people left a review and a lot of them were pet owners who was satisfied with its capabilities in removing pet hair off carpet and upholstery, one mentioned though that because of the narrow opening remnants of pet hair may will be left hanging on the nozzle when you turn off the vacuum.
Consumers say that suction is good and run time is pretty decent but they didn’t specify exactly how long.
The brush roll is great on upholstery for cleaning pet hair. But some folks did complain about the small nozzle.
Negative reviews say that this vacuum had a short run time and poor suction. The crevice tool tends to slide back if you put too much pressure.
Reviews from other sites
Walmart.com
Over 20 people left a review and like in Amazon, a lot of them were pet owners who were satisfied on how it helped them tackle stubborn pet hair.
Consumers say that suction was pretty decent and they were able to use it for up to 30 minutes plus it’s cheap which makes it a good buy.
Negative reviews say that this didn’t have much suction and run time was short.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this handheld from Amazon for less than $55 and it’ll be eligible to their free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.
Extended warranties are also available of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
Conclusion
This is another budget alternative for price conscious shoppers who are looking for a cordless handheld vacuum that will clean pet hair.
Don’t expect heavy duty performance because it is what it is – a spot cleaner that doesn’t hold much dirt nor will it pick up large bits of dirt.
Pet owners would benefit from this because of the brushroll, as it will help them clean pet hair on upholstery and stairs.
The crevice tool helps somewhat on edges. But it is on the short side.
The small nozzle limits the size of dirt that it can clean.
But the good news is that it is affordable, just under $50. And it comes with a 3-year warranty so as long as it holds up within the warranty period, you’ve got yourself a bargain.
