The Presto BH20090 is basically a hand vac attached in a stick vacuum’s body, a concept that gives you two products in one package hence the name 2-in-1.

The stick part comes with a swivel nozzle that makes it easy to move this around obstacles.
The handheld part comes with 3 attachments that include a crevice as well as a dust and upholstery tool to clean areas other than the floor.
One of the concerns with these types of products is suction power.
Since a handheld is wedged inside a stick vac you’ll only have handheld power on a stick vacuum.
Based on reviews, it has decent suction but not enough to deep clean, great for bare flooring, not so great on carpet.
Pros
- Can be used as a hand vac or stick vacuum
- HEPA filtration
- Has a foldable handle that requires less space to store
- Easy to maneuver because it has swivel nozzle
- Easy to empty dust bin
Cons
- Small dirt bin
- Lack of power
- Long charge time
- No battery indicator so you’ll have to guess when it’s fully charged
What to expect from Hoover Presto 2-in-1 Cordless Stick Vac BH20090?
Powering this is a 14.4-volt nickel cadmium battery that needs around 6 to 8 hours to fully charge which is around 50% less than most other cordless cleaners with the same battery type.
Filtering dirt from coming back out is a HEPA filter that blocks 99.7% of allergens from going back out – allergy sufferers have a look at this.
The dirt bin is rather smallish for a stick since a handheld’s dirt cup is being used. So don’t expect it to hold a lot of debris.

Bare Floor Performance
The length and swivel nozzle make this a good floor cleaner plus it has a motorized brush which make it great on hard floors.
Edge cleaning does suffer a bit because the brush doesn’t go all the way to the edges but the handheld will more or less take care of this.
Swivel feature

Carpet Performance
Like what I said, the length and swivel nozzle would make this a good carpet cleaner but it lacks the power to clean medium to thick pile carpet even though it has a motorized brush.
Remember that this is essentially a handheld stored within a stick vacuums body so expecting upright power would be asking for too much.
It does a fairly good job on low pile carpet and rugs as demonstrated in this video.
Pet Hair
Because it has a motorized brush it can clean pet hair but there are some concerns.
First longer strands of hair will get stuck on the brush that’ll need regular cleaning but fortunately Hoover has made it easy to remove the brush.
Second the opening of the upholstery nozzle is narrow so pet hair tends to build up in this area and may get that can be a bottleneck here.
Take note that even without the upholstery attachment the handheld can be used to clean pet hair on its own.
Attachments and Accessories
It comes with three attachments – (1) crevice tool, (2) upholstery brush and (3) dusting brush tool.

Charging Time
For the first 3 or 4 uses it has to be charged for around 12 hours then afterwards that goes down between 6 to 8 hours.
Take note that it does not have any indicator light that lets you know when the battery is full so better have a timer set for this.
Filter Clean up
The HEPA filter can be rinsed only then air dried for 24 hours and I would suggest getting an extra filter so that you can use the extra filter while the other is being air dried.
Only rinse, don’t wash it with detergent.
Before emptying the dirt cup, detach the handheld from the stick housing. Make sure to hold it with the nozzle facing up so dirt does not fall out from the opening.
Press the release latch right beside the power switch to remove the filter over the dirt cup then empty the dirt cup on a trash bin.
While you’re at it check the cyclonic separator for any dirt stuck on it and clean if necessary.
Run Time
Hoover says that expect to get around 8 to 10 minutes.
Most consumers though didn’t mention run time numbers although there was one review in Amazon though that mentioned it lasted around 10 minutes, other reviews mentioned one charge was able to clean between 1200 and 1500 square foot area.
Warranty
Hoover will give you a 1 year warranty and will replace defective units.

Customer Reviews
Close to a hundred people left a review in Amazon and a majority gave it a 5 star rating saying that it had good enough suction, decent run time, maneuverable, easy to empty, light and it saved them money because they didn’t need to buy a separate handheld.
This product essentially was everything they needed but it is important to note that most of the consumers who gave 5 star reviews here used this on mostly hard floors and they had minimal carpet in their homes so suction power wasn’t much of an issue.
The Presto also had its share of bad reviews and the complaints here were related to the lack of suction power, small dirt cup and battery not holding charge.
A small percentage had received lemon units which is pretty normal in this industry though one customer reported that even the replacement unit sent to him also had the same problems as the previous unit he received.
Reviews from other sites
Hoover.com
Only 10 people left a review and the pros and cons here were similar to that found in Amazon.
People who gave this a favourable rating said it had good suction power, light and gave them pretty decent run time (though they didn’t specify how long). Negative reviews say it didn’t have enough suction and run time was poor.
BestBuy.com
Close to 40 people left a review here and out of those 84% would recommend this to a friend because it was lightweight, had good suction on hard floors, can pick up pet hair, easy to empty and it was versatile. The consumers who gave negative reviews said that had weak suction and the dirt bin was very small and needed to be emptied often.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this 2-in-1 handheld and stick vacuum from Amazon for less than $90. And it’ll be eligible to their free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.
Extended warranties are also available of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
Conclusion
This is versatile, lightweight and nimble product would be great for folks with small to medium sized homes with mostly hard flooring and minimal area rugs.
It will have enough power to clean dirt off bare floors and rugs but will struggle somewhat on carpet because it simply does not have enough power.
The presence of a handheld also allows you to use this on upholstery, baseboards, tables and other tougher to reach spots.
If you suffer from a form of allergy have a long look at this because it has HEPA filtration.
It takes a while though to charge around 6 to 8 hours but that’s still 50% less than most other nickel cadmium powered vacuums in the market. Even though the filter is washable but think about getting an extra filter to minimize downtime as you need 24 hours to air dry.
Overall this is a good product that may not fit everybody’s needs because it has some glaring limitations – small dirt cup and a lack of power to clean effectively on carpet.
