VonHaus 600W 2-in-1 Review: Lightweight and Versatile

This 2-in-1 has one feature that a lot of 2-in-1 does not have.

It has HEPA filtration that will benefit folks who have respiratory ailments like asthma. However this vacuum does not have a 100% sealed system and does not have a bag.

So there are some particles that’ll seep through.

The HEPA filter is helpful in keeping a lot of the allergens inside the bin.

Since it has a removable body, you can use this as a stick vacuum and handheld. It also has various attachments that helps above floor cleaning.

Don’t expect this to deep clean carpet or rugs because it does not have enough suction or agitation.

This will be most useful inside homes with lots of bare floor. The 600 watt motor is enough for cleaning high traffic areas.

Let’s find more about this versatile cleaning machine in this review.

A quick look at the features

  • Has a 600-watt motor
  • Telescopic wand (adjustable)
  • 2-in-1 versatility of a stick and handheld vacuum

  • Very affordable – less than $30
  • Utilizes HEPA filtration

Cons

  • Short power cord that does not have any cord rewind
  • Attachments does not have a built in lock, it only rely on friction

  • Noisy

What to expect from the VonHaus 600W 2-in-1?

One of the most useful features you’ll notice that this vacuum has is the telescopic wand that allows you to adjust the height to suite your needs.

This gives you the flexibility to adjust the height that suites you when cleaning stairs or floors.

It’s a feature only available in higher end canister vacuums. Most stick vacuums don’t have this feature.

HEPA filtration

Another feature that you may find handy is the HEPA filter that filters out most if not all of the fine dust that it sucks up.

Take note that it doesn’t have a bag so there is still allergen exposure when you empty the bin. One big advantage is cost savings because you don’t have to constantly buy bags.

If you have allergies you may want to check our list of bagged vacuums.

Attachments and Accessories

It comes with 3 attachments – an upholstery tool, combination crevice and brush tool and a flexible hose that helps in cleaning areas above the floor like upholstery or tables.

Cord Length

Although this vacuum looks like a cordless, it isn’t. If you’re looking for something without a cord, check out our guide to stick vacuums.

Power cord is rather short at just 16 feet and it does not come with a cord rewind. So this will not work well on large homes.

Filter Clean up

This vacuum has two filters – a sponge and HEPA filter. The sponge filter is washable but the HEPA filter is not. You’ll have to replace this once every 6 months to maintain performance.

Accessing both filters is easy just push a lever on top of the vacuum to open the dirt bag. Both of the filters can then be pulled out.

One consumer pointed out that there is a fabric wrapped around the heap filter with a Velcro to secure it in place, don’t remove this as it is a part of the filtration system.

A brief look at the features and performance…

Warranty

VonHaus only backs this up with a one year warranty. Don’t worry, you can purchase extended warranties of up to 3 years in Amazon if you want that extra peace of mind.

Bare floor performance

This will perform best on bare floor surfaces like hardwood or tile because it does not have any motorized brush which is good and bad.

Good because you don’t have to worry about the brushes scratching any expensive hardwood or linoleum finish and bad because it hampers its performance on carpet.

It has a telescopic wand which is a nice touch because it allows you to adjust the height and clean stairs with it whereas other stick vacuums don’t have this feature.

Carpet performance

Like what I’ve said earlier, the lack of a motorized brush will hamper its performance on carpet and it will only be able to pick up surface dirt like dust.

Don’t count on it deep cleaning carpet. This will be most usable on low pile carpet.

Upholstery performance

It comes with an upholstery tool and a flexible hose which allows you to use this to clean up chairs and sofas.

Along with that comes a combination brush and crevice tool that will help you pick up loose dirt.

Pet hair removal

For pet hair cleaning, this is only usable on bare floor surfaces like hardwood, linoleum or tile. But it will struggle on carpet because it lacks suction and a beater bar.

On upholstery it can still clean pet hair with the upholstery tool. But it won’t be as efficient as it can be with a pet hair tool or a mini motorized turbo brush that other brands have.

What consumers say?

The two things that consumers like that most about this vacuum are the strong suction power and nimbleness.

There were a couple of consumers who mistook this for a cordless vacuum because of it looks like one but with the cleaning performance on tap they are willing to look past the cord.

Very loud

All the power comes with a downside. This vacuum is noisy and make sure to use this only in the morning so you don’t wake anyone up.

Remember that this vacuum does not have any motorized brush so it will work best on hardwood and short pile carpet.

Not a deep cleaning vacuum

Don’t expect this to deep clean or else you will be disappointed.

Assembly is easy and will take just a couple of minutes to put together. The telescopic wand adds more versatility because you can adjust the height.

Combine this with its lightweight feature (this weighs less than 3 pounds!) you can use this to clean stairs easy!

If you factor in the price, this is a great bang for your money.

If your home has hardwood, linoleum or tile flooring, this would be a great tool to have in cleaning those surfaces without scratching them.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this lightweight stick vacuum from Amazon for less than $30! And it’ll be eligible for their free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.

Amazon also sells extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.

To wrap up

This 2-in-1 stick and handheld vacuum would work best in small to medium sized homes with mostly bare floor surfaces like hardwood or linoleum because it does not have a motorized brush.

The biggest advantage of this is that it will not scratch any expensive wood or linoleum flooring your home may because of the motorized brush. You just need to keep the wheels clean.

It will also work on rugs and carpet but only on the thin pile variety and don’t expect any deep cleaning with it.

Take note that this is a corded vacuum with a 16 foot power cord. I just wanted to mention this because there was one consumer who said that he thought that this was a cordless vacuum.

This is comes with a telescopic wand that makes this great on stairs as long as you have a power cord nearby.

It has a few attachments with a flexible hose that will allow folks to use this as a handheld vacuum.

I must warn consumers though that the plastic parts does not have a built in locking mechanism unlike higher end brands like Dyson. So it will rely on friction so if you use too much force, the plastic make crack over time and the flexible hose break.

Overall this is a good budget vacuum for owners of small homes looking for something affordable but will still perform.

  1. The corded part is well concealed. Fooled me too.
Explain this to me – why do you discuss battery life, charging time, etc above for a corded vacuum.
Also – you say one year warranty while your chart shows 3 years on vacuum. One year on battery & charger which I should not need on a cordless vacuum.

      1. Marie,

Thank you for the heads up! Yes this is a good addition to the VonHaus if want to clean carpet in your home. The main floor tool of this machine doesn’t have a motorized brush.

  2. I need to know the overall dimensions (height, width, depth) of the VonHaus 600w 2 in 1 corded up right stick vacuum. Not shipping dimensions but out of the box dimensions. Thank you.

  3. Thanks for the detail information. There are multiple opinions in amazon but it is harsh to read them all, you have summarize it and make it easy and nice to read. Now I am more confident and getting one.

  4. Can you advise where I can purchase a replacement hepa filter for my vacuum. Love this little vacuum. Very light and powerful suction.

    thanks.

  5. The hose on my Von Haus stick vacuum has split. I cannot seem to find a replacement part anywhere. Have you any idea where I can find one? By the way, I love this little vacuum. I have pets and need to vacuum often. We do not have carpet so I find it easy to run around picking up dog and cat fur on my floors. Love it.
