The Dyson V7 Trigger is great for folks looking for a high handheld vacuum that will do great in upholstery and stairs.

It’s a bit pricey, but this handheld will clean upholstery thoroughly.

One of the biggest complaints with the V6 would be how messy it is to empty.

The V7 solves this by integrating the V8 bin.

It isn’t as powerful as the Dyson V8, but it won’t be as expensive.

Another advantage that this has over the V6 Trigger would be run time. This variant will run for up to 30 minutes versus the 20 minute run time from the V6.

There are two variants – one without the HEPA filter and another with it. The latter will be more expensive but not by much.

What to expect from the Dyson V7 Trigger?

The V7 Trigger is Dyson’s solution to the issues that consumers have with the V6 Trigger. Perhaps one of the most significant issues with the V6 would be how messy it is to empty the bin.

As it turns out, relying on just gravity to empty the bin is a very bad idea.

Dyson solves this issue with the V8, but the problem is, the V8 Trigger isn’t available just yet. And buying the V8 Absolute will easily cost over $400.

If you don’t want to blow that amount of money for a handheld, this is a great alternative.

It will not be able to clean floors like the V8, but it can clean upholstery and everything else inside your home.

Digital V7 Motor

Dyson uses the V7 digital motor to power this cordless. To be honest, this motor isn’t much of an upgrade from the V6 motor.

I reckon that it has the same motor with some minor tweaks because it has the same power of 100 air watts.

Tools that come in the box

The V7 comes with three attachments, and these include crevice tools, combination tool, and mini turbo brush.

The combination tool is like a brush tool with a mini crevice tool. Mini turbo brush has stiff bristles that make it usable for agitating and deep clean upholstery.

You can use this not just on fabric upholstery but also on mattresses. Just make sure to get the V7 Trigger Pro if you’re planning on cleaning your cushions because it has HEPA filtration.

It won’t be as effective as a Rainbow vacuum, but it won’t cost as much.

Filtration

All V7 variants have 15 cyclones that prevent dirt from clogging up the filter fast. It is an essential feature because you don’t have to clean the filter as often.

Dyson says that this feature is capable of filtering allergens as small as 0.5 microns.

Take note that the standard V7 Trigger does not have the post-motor HEPA filter. If you want that feature, then you’ll have to spend a few extra $$$ for the Trigger Pro.

Hygienic dirt ejector

Perhaps the most significant upgrade that the V7 has over the V6 is bin design. The V7 bin (which is the same as the V8) has a mechanism that will push dirt down rather than just relying on gravity.

It makes emptying much easier and less messy. There will be some bits and pieces that’ll get stuck on the mesh filter, but it won’t be as much.

Max mode

The V7 has two power modes – normal and max. It also has a better lever versus the older V6.

Instead of using a button that can sometimes misfire, a slide switch is a simpler solution that works better.

All Dyson cordless vacuums come with a 2-year warranty.

Cleaning performance

This vacuum is strictly a spot cleaner at its core. It does not have the extension wand that its stick vacuum siblings have so you can’t use this to clean floors.

The results are impressive considering he only did some of the steps minus the risers. It would have picked up more if he did the whole flight of stairs.

Just remember that run time goes down to 5 minutes with the max suction on.

What do consumers say?

Consumers were for the most part happy with how this premium handheld vacuum cleaned their homes. Pet owners recommend buying this handheld if you have pets.

Suction is not an issue. Agitation is also another strong point with the mini turbo brush fully capable of cleaning fabric upholstery.

However, there are some issues that you need to be aware of. The first issue would be run time. If you need extra power, obviously you’ll turn the “max” mode on, but that cuts down the run time to 5 minutes.

In normal mode there were reports of it running for 30 minutes, others say 15 minutes, so it will vary on how you use this machine.

Take note that if you use the motorized tool, it will not run for the full 30 minutes.

Emptying is also another useful feature according to reviews but there are some concerns about the plastic lever, but it’s from the minority.

Exhaust vents may also be another issue as it blows at the back. It will blow stuff if you turn on the max suction.

If you buy this from Amazon, it will not come with any wall bracket so you may have to search at eBay if you’re looking for one.

Pricey yes but you’ll be getting a good quality product that will clean. The real question is, are you willing to spend the $$$ for it. If money isn’t a concern, then it may be a good option.
