Steps to replace the Roomba E5 battery
Replacing the Roomba E5 is a simple four-step process.
Step 1: Flip the robot and remove the side brush
.One bolt holds the side brush. Remove this and take out the side brush.
Step 2: Remove the base plate
Using a Philips screwdriver, remove these screws (check photo above) to remove the base plate.
The beauty of the Roomba design is you don’t need to take out the screws completely. Loosen them just enough to lift the base plate.
Step 3: Take out the battery
After removing the base plate, you’ll have easy access to the battery. Squeeze the lever above it to remove it, then attach the new battery in place.
The Roomba E5 utilizes an 1800 mAh, Li-ion battery, and you’ll have several options. You can opt for an original (but more expensive) 1800 mAh variety or a larger 2600 mAh option (cheaper variant).
Step 4: Reattach all components.
After attaching the new battery, reattach the base plate, tighten all the screws, then side brush, and you’re ready to go.
