Brigii M1 Mini Cordless Vacuum Review

Brigii M1 Review

Mini cordless vacuums are gaining popularity, and one of their main selling points is the extremely lightweight and compact design.

Brigii introduces one of the lightest options, with the M1 weight just a little over a pound.

The biggest question is does this mini handheld has enough suction to warrant consideration.

I’ve put it through a series of tests to find out, and I’ll share the results in this review.

Lightweight and Compact Mini Vacuum

Brigii M1 mini vacuum

Brigii M1 Mini Cordless Review

This mini vacuum looks more like a water bottle than a vacuum cleaner with its cylindrical shape. The design is basic, with only one single button that engages the motor. Brigii advertises this as a vacuum and blower, but it doesn’t have a blower function per se since it uses the exhaust, so don’t expect much. It can blow stuff, but it lacks force and is only helpful for light-duty tasks. Airflow is below-average at just a little over 18 CFM, but it’s enough for picking up loose debris.

Introduction to the Brigii M1 Mini Cordless Vacuum

The Brigii M1 is one of the lightest mini vacuums available, weighing 1 pound and 1.4 ounces, so it’s like carrying around a light dumbbell.

This compactness is its main selling point, and Brigii claims their latest variant has more suction than the older Brigii Y120, but airflow tests say otherwise.

The older variant has up to 20 CFM, while this variant tops out at 18.52 CFM.

Regardless, the difference is not significant, so expect similar results with surface cleaning.

Dustbin size and design

Brigii M1 dustbin

In front of the motor is the 100-ml capacity dustbin.

Since compactness and lightness take priority, don’t expect much with volume. But it’s more than enough for spot cleaning.

In cleaning tests, I tried it on various debris types, and the dustbin has enough space to hold 20 grams of quaker oats.

Behind the container is the filter assembly consisting of two parts – the mesh filter and HEPA filter.

Brigii M1 filter

Consumers can separate these components by twisting the HEPA filter slightly using the handle behind it.

Brigii M1 two layer filter

The metal mesh filter is washable, but I’d discourage washing the HEPA filter since it uses paper elements, which degrade if washed.

Unfortunately, despite having a HEPA filter, it’s not a sealed system, so it leaked badly during the fog test.

This means allergens can seep through the exhaust – keep this in mind.

Tools out of the box

Brigii M1 tools out of the box

You’ll get these tools out of the box.

  1. Brigii M1 mini handheld vacuum
  2. 2-in-1 combination brush and crevice tool
  3. Flexible hose tool with a narrow tip (you can separate the hose and tip)
  4. Short crevice tool
  5. Round rubber tool
  6. Bag for storage
  7. USB charger

Most of these attachments are meant for delicate cleaning tasks, such as blowing the dust off your camera lens or keyboard and vacuuming tight zones inside the vehicle.

One issue with using the blower is that allergens will blow out since it doesn’t have a sealed system.

Make sure to empty the dustbin and tap the HEPA filter to dislodge any dirt sticking to it.

How much power does the Brigii M1 mini cordless vacuum have?

I use an anemometer to measure airflow directly at the inlet. The M1 has 18.52 CFM in its single power setting, slightly lower than the Brigii Y120 I reviewed previously.

Also, I measured suction with a water lift gauge, and the M1 had 25 inches of water lift – a meager number compared to other cordless vacuums, but it’s hard to expect more considering it uses a small motor.

Cleaning Performance

One wrinkle I added to cleaning tests I did is adding measuring how much debris it picks up. I use my usual combo – quaker oats, coffee grounds, quinoa, and pet litter on an MDF board and mid-pile carpet.

Since the M1 doesn’t have any brush attachment, it’s only usable for such.

Hard floor results

Brigii M1 hard floor results

Here are the results on the MDF board (or hard floors)

  • Quaker oats: 99.5%
  • Coffee:99.5%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • Pet litter: 99.5%

The results on the MDF board were impressive. It picked up almost every crumb of dirt on the surface.

These numbers were impressive considering the low airflow, plus the transparent dust container provides a visual cue when to empty.

I like the transparent design over the older Y120 variant did not have this feature.

Carpet results

Brigii M1 carpet results

Cleaning results on the carpet were similar to the hard floor scores.

It did slightly worse with pet litter, but I’m still impressed by how it handled it.

You could see traces of coffee grounds on the surface, but that’s understandable given its lack of a motorized brush.

  • Quaker oats: 99.5%
  • Coffee: 99.5%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • Pet litter: 99%

Again, these surface debris experiments aim to test how well handheld vacuums will pick up debris on the surface. If it can pick up these items, cleaning lighter debris like dust will not be an issue.

How noisy is the Brigii M1 mini cordless vacuum?

Next, we’ll look at noise levels using a sound meter. The M1 is on the noisy spectrum with a 73.2-decibel output based on the test, which isn’t a surprise considering these products use a small motor.

Ergonomics

Since this product has a cylindrical design, the ergonomic feel will be subjective. It doesn’t have a narrow handle like other brands, so holding it for longer stretches can feel awkward for some.

But the lightweight design makes up for it. I didn’t feel any arm fatigue trying this out on our sofa.

Other brands that use a handle will weigh more and have more bulk. For instance, the Shark WANDVAC weighs 1.4 pounds versus – almost 40% heavier than the M1.

Brigii M1 size

The M1 is compact even for a handheld, measuring just 10.2″ long and 2.26 wide”. It’s a big as a small water bottle.

How long will the Brigii M1 run?

Brigii claims this mini handheld will run for up to 25 minutes. Tests reveal that it runs slightly less at around 22 minutes and 42 seconds, which is actually a good number for a compact vacuum.

Recharge will take around 3 to 4 hours.

Please note that this variant only comes with a USB charger. But you can use it with a phone charger for a quicker charge.

Is the Brigii M1 mini cordless vacuum worth it?

Despite not being the least expensive mini cordless option, I’d say this variant is still worth considering.

The lightweight design and compactness make it very portable. You can bring this with you on business trips for quick cleaning tasks. I like that it comes with a traveling bag to avoid misplacing any of the tools.

The USB port means you can charge this on the laptop while working to keep the battery full.

Understand that this product isn’t meant for heavy cleaning tasks but only light and delicate ones.

One issue is the lack of a sealed system, and the tools don’t have any locking mechanism.

But it’s the same issue with most other options at its price bracket. Consider this option if you don’t mind these limitations and want a lightweight handheld to pick up surface debris.

4 Reasons to choose the Brigii M1 mini cordless vacuum

  1. Compact and lightweight: The sleek and lightweight design minimizes arm fatigue, making it very ergonomic to use.
  2. Enough suction for light messes: While the airflow numbers won’t jump out, it has enough to pick up surface debris.
  3. Excellent travel companion: It comes with a bag so that you can bring this handheld with you on business trips.
  4. Great for cleaning laptops: Need a compact vacuum to dust a laptop? This variant will do the task.

The Verdict: A Lightweight Option for Small Messes

This mini vacuum is an excellent option for folks looking for a lightweight cordless vacuum for small delicate tasks that will require something compact.

Its tools are small enough to fit in tight spaces that may be too cumbersome for a full-sized handheld.

Yes, there are filtration issues and non-detachable, but most mini vacuums in this price range have the same concerns.

The tests prove that this mini handheld has enough suction to pick up surface debris, even heavy ones like pet litter.

It’s not the cheapest, but the build quality is decent, and it’s something to consider.

Its sleek size (as big as a small water bottle) and light frame make it ideal for quick cleaning tasks in cramped areas. This product has enough suction for dusting your laptop keyboards or blowing debris off camera lenses – more delicate tasks where a full-sized handheld may be too obtrusive. Yes, it has it’s flaws, but nearly all other brands at its price bracket will have the same issues.
