How to Replace Roomba S9 Battery

How to replace the Roomba S9 battery

The Roomba S9 is the most expensive iRobot option, and throwing it away just because of a bad battery won’t be wise. Fortunately, changing the battery is a simple process that requires simple tools for all Roomba products.

I’ve highlighted steps for other Roomba models like the 695, E5, and I3, and the process for the S9 will be slightly different.

Tools you’ll need

  1. Philips screwdriver: This is the only tool you’ll need to remove the bolts holding the side brush, base plate, and battery.

Before proceeding, grab a clean towel, lay it underneath the robot to prevent any scuffing.

1. Remove the base plate

Use the Philips screwdriver to loosen the bolts [check photo]. There’s no need to take out the screws, but only undo enough for the base plate to come off.

You may need to unfasten the two bolts above the two side wheels.

After the base plate is out, you’ll see the battery on the robot’s lower right.

2. Detach the battery

Get the new battery, attach it to the battery slot, then tighten the bolt.
